Reclaimed Chestnut

Smooth | Oil Wax Finish

Before the species was devastated by the chestnut blight, a fungal disease, it was one of the most important forest trees throughout its range, and was considered the finest chestnut tree in the world. The only way you can get American chestnut wood today is from the salvaged 18th and 19th century buildings, and the best and biggest material comes from the barns. Our chestnut is both beautiful and wide with color tones ranging from light brown to a medium reddish brown depending on finish.

Reclaimed chestnut and wormy chestnut are the same product. Please request a sample to view the variation in the material.
